Jeremy Ausmus Coasts to 2024 PokerGO Tour Player of the Year Honors

Jeremy Ausmus capped off a stellar year in poker, claiming the 2024 PokerGO Tour (PGT) Player of the Year title. His consistent performances throughout the year, particularly during the World Series of Poker (WSOP), solidified his status as one of the most accomplished players on the circuit. While Daniel Negreanu trailed as his closest competitor, the race was far from tight.

Ausmus Dominates the PokerGO Tour Standings

With 2,966 PGT points, Ausmus finished well ahead of Negreanu, who scored 2,054 points. Rounding out the top five were Seth Davies (1,855 points), Jesse Lonis (1,843), and Michael Rocco (1,835). Notably, David Coleman, crowned 2024 Global Poker Index (GPI) Player of the Year, placed 10th in the PGT standings with 1,637 points.

Top 10 PGT Player of the Year Standings:

Negreanu had his moments, ending an 11-year bracelet drought at the WSOP and excelling in PokerGO events early in the year. However, Ausmus’s unmatched consistency left no doubt about his position at the top.

A Year of High-Stakes Mastery for Ausmus

Ausmus’s performance in 2024 was nothing short of extraordinary. The high-stakes legend tied Phil Hellmuth’s 2021 record with seven WSOP final table appearances in a single year. Although he didn’t win a bracelet this year, his consistent results throughout the PGT season painted the picture of a dominant player.

He participated in 17 final tables that contributed to his Player of the Year standings, more than any other player. While his first tournament win of the year came only in October—a $15k PGT PLO event—his string of high finishes made the difference. His efforts brought in a career-best $6.7 million in live tournament earnings for the year, with 90% of those winnings coming from PGT events.

  • Final Tables: 17
  • Tournament Wins: 1
  • Total Earnings: $6.7 million
  • WSOP Final Tables: 7

The Road Ahead for Ausmus

The 2024 PokerGO Tour season officially ends with the PGT Championship $1 million freeroll invitational. At the time of publication, Ausmus was among the biggest stacks on Day 1, eyeing the $500,000 first-place prize.

Looking forward, the 2025 season kicks off on January 20 at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas with the PGT Kickoff Series. Ausmus will have the opportunity to defend his Player of the Year title as the competition begins anew.

Poker Hall of Fame Buzz

With his latest achievement, Ausmus strengthens his case for a Poker Hall of Fame induction. Aged 45, he is already eligible, but competition will be fierce this summer as first-time candidates Scott Seiver and Nick Schulman turn 40. If Ausmus continues his dominant streak in early 2025, voters may find it hard to overlook his contributions to the game.

Ausmus’s track record and consistent excellence not only highlight his skill but also place him firmly in the conversation as one of the best players of his generation. Whether or not the Poker Hall of Fame beckons this year, his achievements ensure that his name remains at the forefront of poker history.
