This year, Independence Day lands on a Thursday, but Las Vegas isn’t holding back. Despite the midweek timing, the city expects an influx of approximately 332,000 tourists to celebrate the holiday weekend. This estimate represents a 3.1 percent increase compared to last year’s five-day holiday period. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority predicts substantial spending during the four-day weekend, with direct spending projected at $418.7 million and indirect spending at $692.9 million.
The Attractions:
Visitors won’t be short of entertainment options during their stay. Notable events include:
- Blink-182 Concert: On Wednesday, T-Mobile Arena hosts a lively concert by the popular band Blink-182.
- Dead and Company Residency: The Sphere welcomes Dead and Company for a three-day residency from Thursday through Saturday.
- Las Vegas Aces Games: WNBA matchups between the Indiana Fever (Tuesday) and the Washington Mystics (Thursday) promise thrilling basketball action.
- DJ Sets and Residencies: Throughout the week, various DJs and artists will keep the party going.
Balancing Weekday Independence Day:
While weekday holidays can sometimes dampen demand, inflation and high-profile events in Las Vegas are likely to boost spending. The absence of the Tropicana (recently taken off the market) should elevate the citywide average daily rate (ADR). Additionally, the post-pandemic shift in visitor demographics—favoring those with higher disposable income—supports the projected numbers.
