Southern Nevada to welcome new hotels and golf attractions in 2024

Las Vegas, the entertainment capital of the world, is not slowing down its pace of development. In 2024, the city will see the completion of several new projects, ranging from hotels to golf venues, that will add more variety and fun to the destination. The total value of these projects is estimated at $807 million, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.

New hotels to boost room inventory and convention space

Two new hotels are expected to open their doors in Southern Nevada in 2024, adding more than 1,000 rooms to the city’s inventory. The first one is Fontainebleau, a 3,815-room luxury resort that will occupy the unfinished tower formerly known as The Drew. The project, which has been stalled for more than a decade, was revived by Koch Real Estate Investments and Fontainebleau Development in 2023. The resort will feature a casino, a spa, a theater, a convention center, and several dining and nightlife options. The second hotel is Durango, a 300-room boutique property that will be located near the Durango Drive and Interstate 215 interchange. The hotel will cater to business travelers and locals, offering a casino, a sportsbook, a pool, a fitness center, and a restaurant.

In addition to the new hotels, several existing properties will undergo major renovations in 2024, enhancing their room quality and convention space. The most notable one is the Ipanema Tower at the Rio, which will receive a $350 million makeover that will include a new food court. The Rio, which was acquired by Dreamscape Companies in 2022, will also host the World Series of Poker in 2024, after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic. Other hotels that will complete their renovation projects in 2024 include the Silverton, which will unveil its new “backyard” and pool area, and the Strat, which will finish its $140 million transformation that started in 2019.

New golf attractions to offer more entertainment options

Golf enthusiasts and casual players will have more reasons to visit Las Vegas in 2024, as the city will introduce three new golf entertainment facilities that will offer a mix of fun and challenge. The first one is Atomic Golf, a $70 million, 100,000-square-foot venue that will be located at the Strat. The facility will feature 60 climate-controlled hitting bays, a nine-hole miniature golf course, a sports bar, a restaurant, and a retail shop. The second one is Play Playground, an immersive entertainment attraction that will open at the Luxor in the first quarter of 2024.

The attraction will consist of a 10,000-square-foot indoor golf course, a 7,000-square-foot arcade, a 5,000-square-foot laser tag arena, and a 3,000-square-foot virtual reality zone. The attraction will cater to families during the day but be for adults only at night. The third one is PopStroke, a golf and entertainment experience that will open at Town Square Las Vegas in the first quarter of 2024. The facility will offer 36 holes of championship putting, designed by Tiger Woods and his TGR Design team, as well as a restaurant, bars, a playground, and an ice cream shop.

New transportation options to improve connectivity

Las Vegas will also improve its transportation infrastructure in 2024, making it easier for visitors to get around the city. The most anticipated project is the Vegas Loop, a network of underground tunnels that will transport passengers in autonomous electric vehicles. The project, developed by Elon Musk’s The Boring Company, will connect several major destinations in the city, including the Las Vegas Convention Center, the Strip, the airport, and downtown. The first phase of the project, which will link the convention center with the Westgate and the Wynn-Encore, is expected to open in the first quarter of 2024. The second phase, which will extend the loop to other locations, is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.

Another transportation project that will benefit Las Vegas in 2024 is the Brightline West, a high-speed rail line that will connect Las Vegas with Southern California. The project, which was delayed by the pandemic, resumed construction in 2023 and is expected to be operational by late 2024. The rail line will offer a fast and convenient alternative to driving or flying, reducing the travel time between Las Vegas and Los Angeles to about three hours.

Las Vegas to remain a top destination in 2024 and beyond

With these new projects, Las Vegas will continue to attract millions of visitors in 2024 and beyond, offering them a diverse and exciting range of experiences. The city, which recovered from the pandemic faster than expected, will also host several major events in 2024, such as the NFL Draft, the Electric Daisy Carnival, the Billboard Music Awards, and the Academy of Country Music Awards. Las Vegas, which celebrated its 120th anniversary in 2023, will prove once again that it is a city that never stops evolving and innovating.
