The legendary rapper and entrepreneur Nas has announced a partnership with Resorts World New York City (RWNYC), the largest entertainment destination in the state, to support the economic development of Queens and secure a full-scale casino license for the resort.
Nas to Become a Brand Ambassador and Investor for RWNYC
Nas, who was born and raised in Queensbridge, has expressed his excitement and pride to be part of the RWNYC team, as a brand ambassador and an investor. He said that he has always been passionate about giving back to his community and creating opportunities for the people of Queens.
“I’m honored to join forces with RWNYC, a company that shares my vision of empowering the people of Queens and beyond. RWNYC is not only a world-class entertainment destination, but also a catalyst for economic growth and social impact in the borough. I look forward to working with them to make Queens an even better place to live, work, and play,” Nas said in a statement.
RWNYC, which is owned by Genting Group, a global leader in hospitality and gaming, has welcomed Nas to its family and praised his achievements and contributions to the culture and the society.
“We are thrilled to have Nas as part of our RWNYC family. He is a true icon and a role model for millions of people around the world. His music, his business acumen, and his philanthropy have inspired and influenced generations. We are confident that his involvement with RWNYC will bring more excitement, diversity, and innovation to our resort and to the Queens community,” said Bob DeSalvio, President of Genting Americas East.
RWNYC to Create Thousands of Jobs and Generate Billions of Dollars for New York
RWNYC, which opened in 2011, is the only casino in New York City and the largest taxpayer in the state, contributing over $3 billion to the state’s education fund. The resort features over 6,500 slots and electronic table games, a 400-room hotel, a 5,000-seat concert venue, and a variety of dining and retail options.
RWNYC is currently seeking a full-scale casino license from the state, which would allow it to offer live table games, sports betting, and online gaming. The resort has pledged to invest $400 million to expand and upgrade its facilities, create 1,000 new jobs, and generate an additional $1.5 billion in tax revenue for the state over the next decade.
Nas, who is also a successful investor in several tech and media companies, said that he believes that RWNYC deserves the full-scale casino license, as it would benefit not only the resort, but also the entire state of New York.
“RWNYC is a proven leader in the gaming and hospitality industry, and a trusted partner of the state of New York. They have the experience, the resources, and the vision to take their resort to the next level, and to bring more jobs, revenue, and entertainment to the state. I fully support their bid for the full-scale casino license, and I urge the state to grant it to them as soon as possible,” Nas said.
Nas to Perform at RWNYC and Collaborate with the Resort on Future Projects
As part of the partnership, Nas will also perform at RWNYC’s concert venue, the New York Hall of Science, later this year, and collaborate with the resort on future projects that will showcase his talent and creativity.
Nas said that he is looking forward to performing at RWNYC and connecting with his fans and the Queens community.
“RWNYC has an amazing venue that can host some of the biggest names in the music industry. I can’t wait to hit the stage and rock the crowd with some of my classic hits and new songs. It will be a special night for me and for everyone who loves hip-hop and Queens,” Nas said.
RWNYC said that it is honored to host Nas at its venue and to work with him on future initiatives that will enhance the resort’s offerings and appeal.
“Nas is one of the greatest artists of all time, and we are honored to have him perform at our venue. We are also excited to work with him on future projects that will showcase his talent and creativity, and that will bring more value and joy to our guests and to the Queens community. Nas is not only a partner, but also a friend, and we are grateful for his support and collaboration,” RWNYC said.
