Ohio Casino Revenue Rises 3.5% in January, Hitting $77.8 Million

Ohio’s casino industry started 2025 on a strong note, reporting a 3.5% year-over-year increase in revenue for January. The state’s four casinos collectively pulled in $77.8 million, surpassing the $75.2 million recorded in January 2024, according to the Ohio Casino Control Commission.

Slot and Table Game Revenue Both Climb

Breaking down the numbers, both table games and slot machines saw growth compared to last year.

  • Table game revenue hit $22.6 million, a slight increase from $22.2 million in January 2024.
  • Slot revenue rose to $55.1 million, up from $52.9 million last year.

While the increase in table game revenue was moderate, slot machines continue to be the biggest money-makers in Ohio’s casinos, accounting for over 70% of total revenue.

It saw significant growth in table games, which surged 38.3% year-over-year to $5.6 million, while slots contributed $16.4 million, reflecting a 5.6% increase from the previous year.

Hollywood Columbus has consistently been one of the top-performing casinos in the state, with its mix of table games and a large slot floor drawing in steady traffic.

Revenue Breakdown for Ohio’s Other Casinos

While Hollywood Columbus took the top spot, the other three casinos also had a solid start to the year. Here’s a look at their January 2025 revenue figures:

What’s Driving the Growth?

Several factors may have contributed to Ohio’s casino revenue growth in January:

  • Steady consumer spending despite economic uncertainty.
  • Increased foot traffic due to new promotions and marketing efforts.
  • Improved gaming offerings, with casinos expanding their table game selections.
  • Mild winter weather, which may have encouraged more visitors.

The casino industry in Ohio has shown resilience, even as gaming markets in other states fluctuate. With continued interest in gambling and steady economic conditions, the state’s casinos may see sustained revenue growth in the months ahead.
