Westgate Las Vegas Celebrates 55 Years of Iconic Memories

This July, Westgate Las Vegas—the iconic casino property just east of the Strip—will mark its 55th anniversary. Unlike other resorts that have changed names and ownership over the years, Westgate has maintained a unique history and a dedicated team. Let’s delve into the fascinating journey of this legendary establishment.

From International Hotel to Westgate

In 1969, the property opened as the International Hotel, created by legendary businessman Kirk Kerkorian. It was the world’s largest hotel at the time. In 1971, Hilton Hotels took over, and the Las Vegas Hilton era began. Elvis Presley’s historic residency added to its allure. Ownership changes led to a temporary rebranding as LVH in 2012. Finally, Westgate acquired the resort, preserving its legacy.

Tenured Team Members

Westgate’s commitment to its team is remarkable. Some employees have been with the property since Kerkorian’s International Hotel days. Others have served during the Hilton period, spanning over 40 years. Astonishingly, more than 200 workers have logged 30+ years at Westgate. Their dedication and resilience have shaped the casino’s enduring success.

The 55th Anniversary Reunion

On July 31, Westgate will host a reunion for all team members, past and present. Live entertainment, food, drinks, and memorabilia will celebrate this piece of Las Vegas history. Whether you worked during the International, Hilton, LVH, or Westgate era, you’re invited to join the festivities.
