Binder Grabs Massive Lead in EPT Monte-Carlo Main Event

Austrian poker whiz Bernhard Binder sits atop the world after Day 4 of the 2026 EPT Monte-Carlo €5,300 Main Event. With 20 players left and a towering stack, he eyes the €825,000 top prize from a €4,903,350 pool. Just three years from his first cash, Binder leads with more than 100 big blinds. How did this rapid rise happen?

Bernhard Binder started playing poker around 2022. He grabbed his first live cash in October 2023 at EPT Cyprus. That came in a $1,100 buy-in event where he finished 23rd.

From there, things exploded. Binder now boasts over $13 million in lifetime earnings, ranking 126th all-time per tournament records. His breakout hit in December 2025 with a $10 million win in the WSOP Paradise Super Main Event. He topped 2,891 entries for his first bracelet.

In early 2026, he added a Triton Jeju $125,000 No-Limit Hold’em title worth $2.1 million. Just days ago at this same Monte-Carlo stop, Binder took second in the €10,200 Mystery Bounty for $83,831.

This kid from Vienna turned online micros into high-stakes glory fast. Fans call it one of poker’s wildest stories.

Day 4 Surge Puts Binder in Control

Play wrapped late Friday at Sporting Monte-Carlo. The field shrank from 48 to 20 after intense action.

Binder ended with 4,540,000 chips. Day 5 starts at noon with blinds at 20,000/40,000 and a 40,000 big blind ante. That gives him over 113 big blinds, more than 1.5 times second-place Raul Mestre of Spain.

Total chips in play stand at 30,330,000. Average stack hits 1,516,500, or about 38 big blinds.

Binder’s stack holds 15 percent of all chips remaining. He surged late, picking off shorter stacks while avoiding big risks.

One key hand saw him call a river shove correctly. That pot boosted him past rivals.

Top Stacks Chase Binder’s Dominance

Raul Mestre bagged second after a strong Day 4. The PokerStars Ambassador stayed steady amid bustouts.

Other threats include:

  • Roman Stoica from Moldova in third.
  • Miroslav Rizov of Bulgaria fourth.
  • Jason Wheeler from the United States fifth.

Ognyan Dimov lurks mid-pack. He hunts a second EPT title, his first from years back.

No other bracelet winners remain. This mix of grinders and pros sets up fireworks.

Rank Player Country Chips (est. Big Blinds)

2 Raul Mestre Spain ~75

Road to €825,000 Awaits on Day 5

Twenty players return Saturday. They play down to a final table, likely by evening.

Payouts start at €20,000 for 20th. Money jumps fast near the top: €50,000 for 10th, €825,000 first.

Binder faces pressure. Short stacks may shove wild. But his deep run here shows skill.

This event drew 1,011 entries, including 309 re-entries. It smashed expectations for the glamorous Monaco stop.

Binder’s story inspires dreamers. From micros to millions, he proves talent wins big.

Binder’s command shifts the odds his way, but poker stays brutal. One bad beat changes everything. His poise hints at more trophies ahead.
