The excitement for New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas is about to reach dazzling new heights. The Sphere, a landmark addition to the city’s skyline, is set to become a central figure in “America’s Party 2025,” complementing the Strip’s iconic fireworks display with a global countdown that spans the entire day.
Starting at 5 a.m. Pacific Time on December 31, the Sphere will showcase hourly countdowns tied to celebrations in cities across the world, beginning with Sydney, Australia. The day will culminate with an eight-minute fireworks extravaganza at midnight, marking the new year with one of the most elaborate shows Las Vegas has ever seen.
A Global Spotlight on Las Vegas
“This is about making Las Vegas a true global city,” said Hill, a representative from the Sphere, emphasizing the significance of integrating worldwide celebrations into the city’s annual festivities. The Exosphere, the Sphere’s massive, curved LED display, will illuminate hourly with countdowns to welcome the new year alongside international time zones.
By weaving in celebrations from across the globe, the Sphere underscores its position as more than just a local attraction—it’s a stage for the world to see. The addition highlights the international draw of Las Vegas as a destination for high-profile events and cutting-edge entertainment.
Fireworks by Grucci: A Symphony in the Sky
At the heart of “America’s Party 2025” is the renowned fireworks display choreographed by Fireworks by Grucci. Known for their breathtaking pyrotechnic artistry, the company is celebrating its 20th year partnering with Las Vegas for this annual event.
Nine casinos along the Strip—including MGM Grand, Aria, Planet Hollywood, and Caesars Palace—will launch synchronized fireworks from their rooftops. The display promises a feast for the senses, with rainbow comets, sparkling pinwheels, and even octopus-shaped shells lighting up the sky.
Scott Cooper, director of business development at Fireworks by Grucci, shared insights on the show’s theme, saying, “We’re mimicking the bright, brilliant Vegas lights.” The vivid spectacle will take five days of rooftop setup and involve over 12,000 electrical circuits, supported by a team of 71 pyrotechnicians and nearly 100 additional personnel.
Musical Highlights of the Night
Adding an emotional and celebratory touch, the fireworks show will be synchronized to a curated playlist featuring Mariah Carey’s rendition of “Auld Lang Syne,” ZZ Top’s “Viva Las Vegas,” and Panic! at the Disco’s “House of Memories.”
The playlist, a blend of nostalgia and Vegas flair, promises to amplify the atmosphere as the city comes alive in an explosion of light, colour, and sound.
Fremont Street: A Downtown Spectacle
Beyond the Strip, the Fremont Street Experience will host its own celebration, adding another layer of excitement to the night. Dubbed the “NYE Time of Your Life Festival 2025,” the event kicks off at 7 p.m. with headliner Flo Rida and six other musical acts performing throughout the night.
“This year’s downtown party is bigger and better than ever,” said Andrew Simon, president and CEO of Fremont Street Experience. Tickets to the festival start at $50, providing a more intimate yet equally thrilling alternative to the Strip’s fireworks.
The Plaza’s Midnight Fireworks
Not to be outdone, the Plaza in downtown Las Vegas will also light up the sky with its own fireworks display at midnight, rounding out a citywide celebration that promises something for everyone.
A City Ready for the Spotlight
With an anticipated 340,000 visitors expected to flood the city, the stakes—and the excitement—are high. For many, this will be their first time experiencing the magic of Las Vegas on New Year’s Eve, a celebration that continues to grow in scale and creativity.
“America’s Party 2025 is sure to be another event to remember,” said Clark County Commissioner Jim Gibson. From global countdowns to iconic fireworks and vibrant downtown festivities, Las Vegas is set to prove once again why it’s the ultimate destination to ring in the new year.
