Mohegan Announces New Hires and Promotions to Boost Its Global Expansion

Mohegan, the world-renowned entertainment and gaming brand, has recently announced some changes to its corporate executive team. The company has hired a new VP of Capital Markets, Investor Relations and Corporate Treasurer, and promoted two of its existing team members to senior positions. These moves are aimed at strengthening Mohegan’s financial and marketing capabilities, as well as its people operations, as it continues to grow its international portfolio of integrated entertainment resorts.

Joffre Wells Joins Mohegan as the New VP of Capital Markets, Investor Relations and Corporate Treasurer

Joffre Wells is the latest addition to Mohegan’s executive team. He brings with him a wealth of experience in fixed income, interest rate management, foreign exchange hedging, and investor and banking relations. He will be responsible for shaping Mohegan’s capital planning strategies, supporting strategic projects in accounting, financial planning and analysis, and team member development.

Prior to joining Mohegan, Wells was a Global Macro Trader for Brandywine Global in Philadelphia, PA. He also served as a Global Rates Trader – Vice President, for BlackRock out of New York, NY. He holds an MBA in Management Information Systems and an MS in Finance from Drexel University, in addition to a BBA in Finance from Temple University.

Kelly Leung and Kelly Sullivan Receive Promotions to Senior Roles

Mohegan has also recognized the contributions of two of its long-standing team members, Kelly Leung and Kelly Sullivan, by promoting them to senior roles within the company.

Kelly Leung, who has been with Mohegan for over 10 years, has been promoted to Senior Vice President of International Marketing. He has been a crucial part of the Asian Marketing efforts at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut, which is the flagship property for Mohegan. He will now expand his responsibilities and expertise to Mohegan’s international portfolio, which includes Fallsview Casino Resort and Casino Niagara in Niagara Falls, Ontario and Mohegan INSPIRE Entertainment Resort in Incheon, South Korea. Leung has more than 27 years of experience in the entertainment and gaming industry, starting his career as an Executive Host with Foxwoods before serving as an Executive Director at Caesars and Harrah’s properties in Las Vegas.

Kelly Sullivan, who has also been with Mohegan for over 10 years, has been promoted to Vice President of People Operations. She has been focusing on human resources and business strategy within the Mohegan Tribe, and will now oversee the people operations for Mohegan’s global enterprise. Sullivan has a background in hospitality, having worked for Marriott International and Starwood Hotels and Resorts before joining Mohegan.

Mohegan Continues to Diversify and Grow Its Operations Across the World

The changes to Mohegan’s corporate executive team come at a time when the company is pursuing various initiatives to diversify and grow its operations across the world. Some of these initiatives include:

  • The opening of the Mohegan INSPIRE Entertainment Resort in South Korea, which is the first integrated entertainment resort in the country. The resort features a luxury hotel, a casino, a Paramount Pictures-themed indoor-outdoor amusement park, a 15,000-seat arena, a K-pop entertainment school, and a cultural center.
  • The collaboration with Tesla to establish an Electric Vehicle Showroom at Mohegan Sun, which aims to promote zero-emission vehicle sales and expand charging infrastructure in Connecticut. The showroom is the first of its kind in the state and offers visitors the opportunity to learn about Tesla’s products and services, as well as test drive the vehicles.
  • The expansion into digital gaming, which includes the launch of Mohegan Digital, a new division that will focus on online sports betting and iGaming in the US and international markets. Mohegan Digital has partnered with FanDuel Group and Kambi Group to offer online sports betting and iGaming products in Connecticut, pending regulatory approval.

Mohegan’s efforts for diversification and growth have been reflected in its Q4 financial results, which showed a 58.8% increase in net revenue and a 72.3% increase in adjusted EBITDA compared to the same period last year.
