Major U.S. iGaming Operators Launch Responsible Gaming Association

In a groundbreaking move, seven of North America’s largest iGaming operators have come together to establish the Responsible Online Gaming Association (ROGA). This collaborative effort aims to promote responsible gaming practices within the industry. The participating companies—BetMGM, bet365, DraftKings, Fanatics Betting and Gaming, FanDuel, Hard Rock Digital, and PENN Entertainment—represent over 85% of the legalized online sports betting and iGaming market in the U.S.

ROGA’s Objectives and Commitment

ROGA has pledged more than $20 million to support its objectives during its first year of existence. Dr. Jennifer Shatley, an experienced industry professional, will serve as ROGA’s executive director. Her extensive background in responsible gaming (RG) will facilitate widespread education on this critical topic.

Promoting Research: ROGA advocates for and funds independent research on the effectiveness and impact of RG tools.

Best Practices for RG: Encouraging companies to adopt best practices for responsible gaming.

Awareness and Advertising: Raising awareness about the risks of irresponsible gambling and promoting appropriate advertising.

Data Clearinghouse: Establishing an independent data clearinghouse to facilitate information sharing among member companies, ultimately protecting customers.

Independent Certification Program: Evaluating member companies’ RG efforts objectively and providing an assessment of their RG procedures.

ROGA’s commitment to enhancing consumer protections and providing efficient access to responsible gaming tools underscores its dedication to a safer and more enjoyable online gaming experience.
