What to Expect from the Mirage’s Transformation into Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas

The Mirage, one of the most iconic and popular hotels and casinos on the Las Vegas Strip, is undergoing a major makeover that will turn it into a Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas. The project, which was announced a year ago, will cost billions of dollars and take several years to complete. Here are some of the things you need to know about the Mirage’s transition to Hard Rock.

Who is behind the deal?

The deal was made between Hard Rock International, a global brand owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, and Vici Properties, the casino landlord that owns The Mirage’s real estate. Hard Rock paid $1.075 billion in cash for the operating assets of The Mirage, which include its restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, and gaming floor. Vici Properties will continue to own the land and lease it to Hard Rock for an initial annual rent of $90 million.

What will change at The Mirage?

Hard Rock plans to rebrand The Mirage as Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas and transform it into a music-themed destination resort. The company has filed plans with Clark County for a complete renovation of The Mirage’s exterior and interior. Some of the changes that have been approved or proposed include:

  • Demolishing or relocating some of the existing attractions, such as the Secret Garden (a botanical garden), the Dolphin Habitat (a marine park), and the volcano (a faux volcano that erupts water every 15 minutes).
  • Building a new guitar-shaped hotel tower at the front of the property alongside the Strip. The tower will be between 500 feet to 660 feet tall and will feature an infinity pool deck.
  • Creating a step-and-repeat platform near the tower for visitors to take selfies from the Strip.
  • Adding more Hard Rock memorabilia, artwork, and merchandise throughout the property.
  • Renovating or replacing some of the existing restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, and gaming floor.

When will The Mirage reopen as Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas?

Hard Rock expects to close The Mirage temporarily during its renovation period. The company has not announced an exact date for reopening, but it has said that it will operate as The Mirage through 2023 before closing for 26 months to 30 months. During this time, guests can still enjoy some of The Mirage’s amenities and services.

For both parties, this is also an opportunity to showcase their respective brands and values to millions of potential customers who visit or live in Nevada.

The Mirage’s transformation into Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas is one of the most anticipated projects in Sin City. It promises to be a spectacular spectacle that will delight fans of music, art, and adventure. It also promises to be a lucrative venture that will benefit both Hard Rock International and Vici Properties. We can’t wait to see how it turns out!
