What This Page Is

This is the rulebook CASINO NEWS PRESS holds itself to. We publish it because trust in gambling industry media has to be earned: this is a sector where a great deal of what looks like journalism is actually marketing, where affiliate money shapes coverage on many sites, and where operators are accustomed to buying friendly headlines. We built this publication on the opposite premise. Here is what that means in practice.

Independence First

Our reporting decisions are made by the editorial team and nobody else. No casino operator, sportsbook, supplier, affiliate network, investor, or advertiser decides what we cover, how we frame it, or what we withhold. Specifically:

• No pay-for-coverage. Companies cannot buy news articles, favorable framing, review scores, inclusion in coverage, or removal from it. Not with money, not with partnership deals, not with access. Offers of payment for coverage are declined and, if persistent, may themselves become a story.
• Advertisers get no editorial privileges. A company that advertises with us is covered exactly as it would be if it did not. Ad relationships are handled separately from editorial work, and the people selling ads do not assign, edit, or preview stories.
• No coverage vetoes. Subjects of stories do not get to approve articles, quotes, or headlines before publication. We offer comment and right of reply, not editorial control.

News vs. Commercial Content: A Hard Wall

Like most independent publishers, we earn revenue from advertising and affiliate arrangements, as disclosed in Ownership & Funding. The rule that makes this compatible with journalism is separation, enforced visibly:

• News articles are produced by the editorial team with no commercial input, and they contain no paid placements.
• Any sponsored or paid content that appears on the site is clearly and conspicuously labeled as such, is visually distinguishable, and is never presented as news.
• Affiliate links, where used, are disclosed, and their presence or absence never determines whether a company gets covered or how.
• Editorial staff are not compensated based on affiliate performance, ad revenue, or traffic to commercial pages.

If you ever find content on this site where the line between journalism and promotion is unclear, that is a defect. Report it to support@casinonewspress.com and we will fix it.

Sourcing Standards

• Primary sources first. Regulator registers and announcements, court filings, exchange disclosures, and official company statements outrank everything else. Our Fact-Checking Policy details the verification workflow.
• Attribution. We tell readers where information comes from. When we build on another outlet’s reporting, we credit and link to it.
• Anonymous sources are the exception. We use them when the information matters and the source has a legitimate reason to fear consequences, common in a heavily regulated industry. We verify their position and their claims independently, and we describe them as precisely as we can without exposing them. We never fabricate sources, and we protect confidential sources without exception.
• Right of reply. When reporting includes significant claims about a company or person, we seek their comment before publication with reasonable time to respond, and we report their response fairly, including “declined to comment.”

Conflicts of Interest

Covering the gambling industry creates specific conflict risks, and we manage them explicitly:

• Team members do not hold financial positions in companies they cover, and any unavoidable interest is disclosed internally and managed by reassignment.
• We do not accept gifts, free play, comped stays, VIP treatment, or hospitality beyond ordinary press facilities at industry events. Where attending an event involves standard press accommodation, coverage decisions remain unaffected and disclosure is made when relevant.
• Team members do not write about operators where they hold personal accounts with material activity, and personal gambling by staff must never intersect with coverage decisions.

Responsible Coverage of Gambling

We report on an industry whose products carry real risk, and our standards reflect that:

• We do not present gambling as a way to make money, and we do not publish tips or picks. We are a news publication, as our Disclaimer makes explicit.
• We cover problem gambling, regulatory findings on player harm, and industry failures with the same energy as commercial success stories.
• Our content is written for adults, and we support age and jurisdiction restrictions in the advertising we accept, per our advertising standards.

Accuracy, Headlines, and Data

• Headlines must be supported by the article. No bait, no overstatement of regulatory actions, no “confirmed” for things that are reported or rumored.
• Numbers are checked against source documents: revenue figures against filings, fine amounts against regulator notices, deal values against official announcements, with currency and period stated.
• Speculation is labeled as such. Analysis is clearly distinguishable from news reporting.

Tools and Technology

We use modern tools, including software that assists with research and drafting, but responsibility does not delegate: every published article is reviewed, verified, and owned by the editorial team. Verification against primary sources is done by people, and no article is published without human editorial judgment.

When We Fall Short

Standards only matter if failure has consequences. Errors are corrected under our Corrections Policy, breaches of this page are reviewed internally, and repeated breaches have led publications better than ours to ruin; we intend not to test that.
